1941 Boeing Model 75 “Stearman” Restoration
The Boeing B75N1 “Stearman” was a World War II US Navy primary trainer powered by a 200 hp engine.
I conducted a frame-up restoration of Stearman N450ST from 1991-1994.
Restoration time ~2000 hours
I made several modifications to the original military configuration, the most significant was the use of the larger 450 hp Pratt and Whitney R-985 engine.
Modifications included:
– 450hp Engine installation
– Inverted Fuel System
– Inverted Oil System
– Four Aileron Conversion
– Custom Cowling
– Headrest
– Wheelpants
I enjoyed flying this airplane for a few years after I restored it, but eventually parted with it to make room for my next project.
Aircraft is currently based in Brazil where it is used for airshows and wingwalking demonstrations.
